New Year Classes

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a wonderful break and have had a great start to 2012!

We have been planning lots of lovely lovely things for you here at Sparkle Dreams, and our classes have kicked back off with gusto!

So, what have we got coming up!

Firstly, we are trying out a new idea here at the shop! Starting on Friday 3rd Feb, we are going to be running a little get together with a theme. The idea is to get people together to create together! "Coffee and Craft" will be completely free, just come along and bring your own projects, and join in! We will have a loose theme for the day eg "Coloured Pencils" so that if you do have some questions or things related to that you want to know more about, you can bring them along with you!

So here is our list:

Wednesday 25th January, Sizzix all the Way with Solance. Create three fab projects using the trusty Sizzix Machine! £10

Childrens Christmas Classes

Dear Crafters,

We have some super classes coming up this Christmas Break for your little Angels here at Sparkle Dreams. In the week running up to Christmas, we are all busy, so why not drop your kiddies here for an hour and a half of fun and creativity, leaving you some time to either shop at the Craft Village, or go and have a well deserved cuppa in the cafe!

All our classes are from 10.30 - 12pm, and cost £8 per child which includes all products, biscuits and a drink too! Our line up of fun for the week is as follows.....

Tuesday 20th December - Christmas cards for Parents/Guardians/Someone special

Wednesday 21st December - Chocolate Gift Wrappers

Thursday 22nd December - Christmas Gift Book (four small photos needed)

Sandies Scrapbook Class

Dear Scrappers,

Well, Sandie has come up with a festive treat for your Christmas Class in December - using the beautiful Echo Park Christmas Range, this gorgeous class will really put you in the holiday mood!

On Saturday 17th December, 10.30 - 12.30pm, £12, we will provide festive treats and choccies, so come along, bring 3 portrait pictures, measuring 3 x 2 inches, your basic tool kit and your festive spirit and the rest will be provided by us ;)

KIDS WEEK!

Stuck for some fun stuff to do for the Children in the run up to Christmas? Dont be! Send them to us for some festive creating whilst you have a wander around the Craft Village and pick up a few last minute pressies! Great fun for all!

New Mixed Media Class

Dear Crafters,

I am so pleased to welcome Lisa Saunders to our team of talented teachers! Lisa is a well known designer in the scrapbooking field, writing for magazines such as Scrap365, and being on the design team for Cocoa Daisy, Fancy Pants, Paper Maze and Lessology!!! A very busy lady!

And we are so happy she is teaching for us, starting this Saturday 3rd December! Lisa will be teaching two classes, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon!

The morning class is a beautiful Mini Book, detailing all the fun of christmas, and using this years gorgeous Christmas Crate Paper range - the "Peppermint Collection", which is in stock now :)

This stunning class is from 10.30am - 1pm, and is £15 per person which will include all materials and bags of expert advice from Lisa!

Lisas afternoon slot is an "Introduction to Mixed Media through Scrapbooking", and will run from 1.30pm - 3.30pm. This is a brilliant, fun class for anyone who wishes to papercraft with mixed media, learn new styles and techniques, and scrapbook something beautiful!

This wonderful class is actually a two layout class :) whoo hoo! Which is amazing value and fun, at only £15 per person, which includes all materials, a cuppa or two, and some mince pies and festive treats due to it being the first weekend in December!

Hi everyone,

Apologies for our lack of posting over September. We have had quite a few changes here and we are back on our feet now with teaching, and hope that we will still see you all on our new classes and fun days!

Ok! So whats going on... we have some lovely classes coming up for all you papercrafters, whether you like making cards, scrapbooks or any kind of project!

To break it down for you a little, we have the following card making classes coming up in October...

Saturday 15th October, Multi Way Card with Sheila - learn the techniques of this beautiful folded card which is perfect for a gift for Christmas - bring along a photo or two if you would like to put it in your card :)

Wednesday 19th October, Magnolia Autumn Leaves with Solance - make a lovely autumnal card using Magnolia stamp and copic pens, and much more!

Wednesday 2nd November, TBC

Friday 4th November, Advanced Copic Techniques with Solance - master those trickiest of colours making a lovely christmas card for someone special on this class.

Wednesday 9th November, Working With Sketches with Solance - taking three sketches, Solance will teach you how to use and work with these to make some gorgeous Christmassy themed cards!

All card classes run from 10.30am - 12.30pm, and cost £10.00 per person which includes all materials! Please book in fast as these are already filling up!

Onto Scrapbooking!

Sandie has a beautiful class using some amazing products from Glitz "Vintage Blue" range and it promises to be absolutely stunning! Book now for Saturday 22nd October, 10.30am - 12.30pm, £12 per person which includes all materials :)

Other classes available... we have a Layered Album class with Solance on Friday 14th October, 10.30am - 1pm, £12 for the class including all materials, please bring along 6 small photos (though you can add these at a later date if you wish!)

And we have our wonderful DEMO & MAKE AND TAKE DAY on Saturday 22nd October, from 10am - 3pm! Please do come along for a day of fun, crafting, cakes and more! We will be introducing our new teacher, Lisa Saunders, who will be running beautiful make and take sessions throughout the day!

Wendy has some lovely classes coming up for all you weekday crafters. Every Wednesday we have something going on at Sparkle Dreams, and the next few Wednesdays are booked in as follows:

Sheila is doing a fab stepper card class on Saturday 11th June, which is a lovely tutorial on creating a different style of card. This class is from 10.30am - 12.30pm and costs only £10 - she will be showing you how to stamp and colour with the copics and also how to make your own template of this card so you can make it time and again at home!

Also, Solance will be taking a fun class on making a Pen Pail using the Crop A Dile on Sunday 19th June from 10.30 - 12.30pm. There are only 8 spaces on this class, so please do book in fast! The cost is £14 per person and includes a fab pail for your pen stash! Photo to follow!!!

Well, we are all up and running in our lovely new shop in the Craft Village! Have you been down to see us, if not, please do come and visit us to see all of our wonderful new products and layout of the shop.

Dear Crafters,

Thank you for your patience over the last few months with the changes happening at Sparkle Dreams. As most of you will be aware, the shop is now under new ownership, which is great news for everyone. This enables more classes, facilities and staff, as well as new stock and a great new location on the other side of the craft village, literally opposite the shop we currently have. The new premises will be live by Easter, and it promises to be chocka full of great goodies and new stock for you all! Yay!

We've been having a bit of a break during February while the shop changed hands and re-stocked. But classes resume as normal in March!

Sandie's scrapbooking class for March is using some gorgeous new My Minds Eye papers, suitable for any theme.

You will need to bring with you 2 photographs. one measuring 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" and the other measuring 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" . Don't worry if you don't print your photos at home, you can cut down your 6" x 4" photos to suit :-) You'll also need a brown ink pad and brown journaling pen, plus your basic tool kit.

Our new scrapbooking class is now here! For January we are banishing the patterned paper and creating a sparkly page from just cardstock using a mix of glimmer mists! So prepare to get inky!!!

Getting Ready For Christmas!!!

Come and join us this December with a gorgeous Christmas Scrapbook Layout Class using My Minds Eye papers, mixed with stamping, and heat embossing.

Sunday 21st - One off Christmas Flag Book Class with Sandie, make a gorgeous flag book in this unique one off class as a gift or special project for christmas.

Weds 24th - Part one of the Copic Course. Wendy who is now Copic Certified will be taking a three week course starting here. Class one, colouring Skin and Hair. Each attendee will receive 12 pens of their choice and a free case to keep them in. £50 per person, over three consecutive weeks.

Thurs 25th - LATE NIGHT OPENING AT THE SHOP! Open until 8pm for late night shopping!

March Cardmaking Classes

To compliment our lovely Scrapbook class this month, we have a super card class, and a club for you to come along to.

Firstly the class, this will be run by Wendy on Saturday 20th March, from 10.30am - 12.30pm. This is a wonderful class, teaching a card technique called Kinetic Cards. Using Spring Lavender colours, you can learn this amazing card style! This class is £12, and includes your 2 hour lesson, all materials, and a beautiful Papermania A5 Paper Pack worth £2.99 to take home too!

Please email us to join in this brilliant class, its not a beginners class, so a little experience in card making would be helpful, plus, if you have a basic tool kit (craft knife, scissors or trimmer etc) please bring it along with you.

Secondly, we have our wonderful Magnolia Club, on Sunday 28th March, from 11am till 3pm (this is quite informal though, so you dont have to stay the entire time). This is where we meet up, sit round the table with our beloved Magnolia Stamps and pretty much craft away to our hearts content. You bring along all your crafting bits and bobs, and a small donation of £2 for tea and coffee, and thats all there is to it! Meet other likeminded fans of this lovely set of Swedish stamps and have a few hours fun too. Again, please do email us for your place to be booked on this day.

We're going to be doing some stamping, using the Cricut and I will show you a different way to use your patterned paper, aswell as using a gorgeous leaf punch, that we have just recently put out in the shop!

The dates for this months class are as follows:-

The class is £10 which includes your kit, and you will need to bring along a large photo, atleast 6" x 8" as we are going to be trimming it down to a 5" x 5" circle!!!! Also if you can, please bring along a black chalk ink-pad and a black journaling pen too.

Its nearly half term (again!) and we are going to spend the morning showing the kids how to make a beautiful Mothers Day gift for their Mums, Grandmothers or Aunties. Do you remember the Accordian Album from last year? Well we are going to be making it again, using some gorgeous floral papers from Papermania.

Februarys class this month is full of flowers and shimmer! We are playing with gorgeous new papers from Papermania and I'm going to teach you how to make fabulous miniature roses from paper!

Because I know I am!

Firstly sorry to all of you who have been watching this blog waiting for details of my first cardmaking class to be held this Saturday, 16th January. It seems a bit like jumping on the bad weather wagon to blame the recent snow falls but sadly jumping on that wagon I am.

It's not so much the snow fall (I'm used to that - hey I lived in Canada for nearly 2 years!) but the fact that my children were home all of last week when I should have been getting my class ready.

However, things are back to normal now and my class is almost there. Hopefully I'll be able to post a photo or two tomorrow so you can all have a look at what we'll be creating. In the mean time if you are coming to class on Saturday it would be useful if you could bring the following in addition to the basic tool kit:

Brown ink pad
Acrylic stamping block
Paper trimmer or craft mat, craft knife and metal ruler
Bone folder
Embossing tool

Don't worry if you don't have something I'm sure we can help you out.

Oh, and we'll be making a surprise waterfall card and a ribbon slider card. This will be my first class at Sparkle Dreams and I am really looking forward to meeting some new faces.

Advent Calendar Workshop

We spent a fabulous day on 21st November with 7 wonderful crafters and made this Christmas Advent Calendar. Made using a large canvas, wedding favour boxes, gorgeous Fancy Pants papers and the Cricut for the numbers and title.

Time for an Update!

Its been a busy week at the shop, with half term and the childrens craft club on Wednesday and Thursday. The kids had a great time, and had lots of fun creating their pumpkin and christmas tag book!

With Halloween being on Saturday it was the perfect day to teach the last class of the Trick or Treat Flip Album. Along with some gorgeous cup cakes from Sonia.

Also at the shop there has been a raffle draw for lots of christmas goodies, which ended yesterday.

We asked Becky, one of our customers from the Trick or Treat class to do the draw for us.

And the winner is Christine Gregory...................CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Half Term - Childrens Craft Club

Its that time again....its hard to believe the kids have been back at school long enough to have a half term already!!

We are having 2 craft mornings on Wednesday 26th October & Thursday 27th October from

10.30-12.30 just for the kids!

Wednesday is dedicated to halloween, with a unique pumpkin shaped layout, with a lift the flap feature, and lots of spoooooky die-cuts!

Thursday is all about Christmas (early I know, but we hope to inspire our younger crafters into making some handmade gifts this year), and we will be teaching a fab little tag book, with lots of glitter, and christmas die-cuts.

Loyalty Cards!

Great news for our customers, we are starting off a Loyalty Card Scheme at Sparkle Dreams.

For every £10 you spend, you will get a stamp on your loyalty card. Once you have ten stamps on there, you will receive £10 off of your next purchase!!! So if you spend £30 in one go, you get 3 stamps straight off, and so on!

A small way from us to say a big thank you to you all for being part of our shop in the first few months of us opening. The support we have had has been wonderful, and very much appreciated.

Childrens Craft Week - Day 5

Our final day of the Craft Week ended by making name plaques for their bedrooms. We started with a blank chipboard shape, which they painted using acrylic paints. Then they chose 3 different papers and punched squares out of them. There was LOTS of doodling to be done today, but it added to the effect, and they were all so good at it. Then they diecut their names using the Big Shot and Sidekick. The finished results were amazing!! They finished off their afternoons playing with the Bitty Body Dies for Sizzix making funny figures and apparently family members too!!!!

Well that is it for this week. We do have plans for something similar during the October half-term, so keep checking back for details. They will be posted here as soon as we have them.

Childrens Craft Week - Day 4

Today was scrapbooking day, and the kids were shown how to put together a simple 8x8 layout and make fun lollipop flowers. Once they'd been shown the class, they were well away and spent the rest of the afternoon creating their own scrapbook pages, and what a talented bunch they are!!! Day 6 and our final day will be spent making a fabulous door plaque for their bedrooms!!!!

Childrens Craft Week - Day 3

This was our project for day 3, to alter a plain old boring exercise book. We've used a fabulous new die for the flourish, and learnt to stamp, doodle and make flowers using punches too.

The kids got to pick the colour exercise book they wanted, and then chose 2 sheets of cardstock each. We then co-ordinated some ribbon for them, and away we went. Each book was stunning and individual because they picked their own colour schemes.

Tomorrow we are doing an 8x8 layout, and will teach them how to make lollipop flowers. Check back to see how they did!

Our second day was spent making cards!! Great fun was had with the Sizzix Big Shot & Sidekick, with a good helping of purple stickles too :-)

Its that time of the month where you get a sneak peek of an upcoming class! As per the previous post the class is running on:-

Tuesday September 29th 2009 - 10:30-12:30pm

In this class you will learn how to make a mini accordian album from just 1 sheet of 12x12 cardstock!!! Mixed with gorgeous papers and acrylic stamps. You'll also make mini tags and pockets for your photos. And talking of photos, you will need 6 of them, measuring 2"x 2", preferable black and white, but not to worry if they are not!!

Sneak Peeks

Here are a couple of sneak peeks for the upcoming Childrens Craft Week. If you haven't booked up yet, there are still spaces, so give us a ring on 01793 979101!!

Also while I think of it, on Thursday 3rd September we are having a Coffee & Create morning in the shop. You need to book your place, but its a morning of cardmaking, scrapbooking and chat. Bring your own projects along and have a quiet social morning, especially as the kids are back at school!!! Ring us on the above number to reserve your place!

The September class is called "Monochrome Mini-Book" , and you'll be making a fabulous accordian album from just 1 sheet of 12x12 cardstock.

Kids Craft Week

Thats right, you have the opportunity to drop of your little ones (ages 6-12years) and let them have a go at crafting! We are running a craft week from Tuesday 25th August until Saturday 29th August from 12:30-2:30pm where your kids can enjoy making items such as paper-bag mini albums, door plaques and even have a go at scrapbooking.

If you think you'd be interested in booking your son or daughter into either one or all of the classes, please contact the shop via email or phone. The cost is £10 per day or £45 for the whole week.

"Natures Finest"

This is the title for our next Scrapbooking Class, we are using a mixture of rustic style papers with techniques such as sanding and distressing. We'll also be using some gorgeous new stamps that have just come into the shop!

Stamping anyone?

We have a fantastic new class for all of you who want to know more about Rubber Stamping and its different techniques. Run by Karen, a fantastic and experienced card designer, who has some excellent tips, ideas and ways to stamp, our “Stamping Sensations” class is perfect for beginners and those who are not too sure how to use rubber stamps or want to learn more about what the inks are for, and how to get the best out of the stamps you have at home.

The dates and times of the class are:

Weds 15th July – 9.45am to 11.45am

Sunday 2nd August – 10.30am till 12.30pm

A gorgeous scrapbook class to make a page of hearts and butterflies. Sandie will show you how to get the most out of scrapbooking your treasured photos. You will need a 6x4 portrait photograph and a basic tool kit. Anything you don't have we can help you with.

Welcome to Sparkle Dreams' new blog, where we can keep our customers updated with new products that have arrived in the shop, and classes that we are currently running.
